Summary: | This article studies the canonical norm that provides that priests have the obligation of daily and integral recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours. First of all, the theological foundation of this law is to be found in the continuation of the priesthood of Christ on the part of the Church for the sanctification of man and the performance of the due worship of God. The legal obligation deriving from that theological foundation is then outlined, in particular its availability and the possible measure of the right in this matter. Thus, it is emphasized that the obligation is not a matter of having to comply with a rule for the mere fact that it exists, but rather understanding that it exists and must be observed because it derives from a justification based on reality. |
