| Summary: | After a brief historical overview of the evolution of the discipline regarding priestly celibacy, this article proposes a critical re-reading of the arguments traditionally adopted as reasons of «convenience» for such a choice, showing to what degree they pose questions today. From here, the research breaks off in three directions, among them intertwined: a presentation of the elements in support of the discipline of priestly celibacy, united to some indications for living it out in a healthy way; the exploration of the positive connection that can also exist between priesthood and matrimony; a framing of and a reflection on the question of the viri probati. Dopo un breve richiamo storico circa l’evoluzione della disciplina in merito al celibato dei preti, l’articolo propone una rilettura critica degli argomenti tradizionalmente addotti come ragioni di «convenienza» per tale scelta, mostrando in che misura essi pongano oggi degli interrogativi. Di qui, la ricerca si apre in tre direzioni, tra loro intrecciate: una presentazione degli elementi a sostegno della disciplina del celibato dei preti, unita ad alcune indicazioni per assumerla in modo vivibile; l’esplorazione della connessione positiva che può esistere però anche tra sacerdozio e matrimonio; un inquadramento e una riflessione sulla questione dei viri probati. |
