| Summary: | L’articolo prende in esame la trattazione che Tommaso d’Aquino dedica ai sacramenti in generale nella terza parte della Summa Theologiae. Pur nella sua brevità, essa ha esercitato un significativo influsso nei secoli successivi, sia sulla riflessione teologica che sull’insegnamento magisteriale della Chiesa cattolica. Dopo una sintetica presentazione degli sviluppi della sacramentaria nel XII secolo, lo studio mette a fuoco in maniera critica gli elementi portanti del testo tommasiano, confrontandone interpretazioni diverse, alla ricerca dell’«impensato» che esso è in grado di dischiudere. La conclusione offre qualche suggestione per andare oltre Tommaso, facendo però tesoro di alcuni aspetti della sua riflessione a volte trascurati. This article examines the treatise that Thomas Aquinas dedicates to the sacraments in general in the second part of the Summa Theologiae, which in spite of its brevity has exercised a significant influence in the succeeding centuries, both on the theological reflection and on the magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church. After a concise presentation of the developments of the sacramental theology of the 12 th century, this study focuses in a critical manner on the founding elements of the Thomistic text, comparing it with various interpretations, in the search for the «unthinkable» which the text is capable of unraveling. The conclusion offers some suggestions for going beyond Aquinas, at the same time treasuring some aspects of his often neglected reflection. |
