Description
Summary:Hope had been a marginalized classic - for a long time, at least, since things have changed. There is now a vibrant discussion on hope's grammar and status among analytic philosophers; and there are tentative accounts on the theological side to approach hope anew. Both discourses are still largely separated from each other. This overview aims at changing that by presenting the manifold conceptual analyses for 'hope', in discussing hope as virtue, emotion, mood and attitude, as well as by introducing approaches in regard to gaining and losing hope, individually and collectively. This first part is followed by a second one dedicated to recent theological literature, mostly monographs. These publications will be reviewed separately as well as, in part, in relation to one another. This article concludes by contemplating where we are standing in contemporary discussions right now and what this might imply for work to come.AGNES BIDMON, Denkmodelle der Hoffnung in Philosophie und Literatur.
