Summary: | In this interview, we sit down with Drs. Jacob Marques Rollison and Michael Morelli to discuss the role technology plays in the thought of Jacques Ellul, and particularly the importance of his most famous work The Technological Society. Beginning with defining what Ellul means in his usage of the terms "technique" and "technology" we move to examining the role that The Technological Society plays in Ellul's broader corpus of over sixty books. After examining Ellul's thought on technology and technique, we move to discuss how Ellul's work in this field can help us today in addressing current issues in technology and contemporary culture. Finally, we end with a discussion surrounding how Ellul's Christian faith and theological works speak into his sociological work on technology and vice versa. |
