Description
Summary:People's use of energy allows us to meet our basic needs and improves our lives, while misuse or overuse of energy does exactly the opposite. For a good future, we need to develop energy sources that allow us to reap the very real benefits without inadvertently imposing harmful costs on ourselves and our neighbors. What might seem from a distance to be simple choices of engineering or economics are often deeply imbued with moral and ethical considerations. Various fossil fuels, biofuels, nuclear fission and fusion, solar power, wind power, carbon capture and storage, electric cars, and voluntary simplicity are touched upon, including discussion of health, climate change, and the need for an inner conversion.
