Dating back to the Reformation the synodal principle could only evolve due to theologians re-emphasizing its value (Schleiermacher). Moreover, territorial authorities had to step back from ruling the church (after 1918) and the church as such had to be re-built (after NS-regime). This suggests that synodality is not a fast-selling item, but needs nourishment and support. | ||
