Description
Summary:Synodal principle and "priesthood of all believers" go hand in hand: Both are based on the individual relationship between Christ and individual Christians. However, it took time until the Lutheran church had fully established synodality. Dating back to the Reformation the synodal principle could only evolve due to theologians re-emphasizing its value (Schleiermacher). Moreover, territorial authorities had to step back from ruling the church (after 1918) and the church as such had to be re-built (after NS-regime). This suggests that synodality is not a fast-selling item, but needs nourishment and support.
