Description
Summary:French soldiers in the early 16th century sang a great deal, but their songs, which have been poorly preserved, have not aroused much interest among researchers. However, for the year 1521, a coherent corpus of songs has been preserved, including six from the siege of Mézières and three from Hesdin. Sung "to the tune of", these texts offer an extraordinary insight into the daily life and feelings of soldiers in the field, but also into a popular culture that is always difficult to grasp.
