Ze toont aan dat deze humaniteit - en dus de goddelijkheid waarvan Irigaray spreekt - te lokaliseren is in het tot bloei komen van mensen in hun differentie en in de ontplooiing van de vitaliteit en sensibiliteit van het levende lichaam. Zij plaatst Irigaray's suggestie tegen de achtergrond van haar ethiek van seksuele differentie, die draait rondom de erkenning van en het respect voor de transcendentie - het onherleidbare verschil van de ander - omdat dit respect de noodzakelijke voorwaarde is voor bloei. Mulder beargumenteert dat dit respect en erkenning van het verschil vereist dat het subject fijngevoelig wordt voor de zintuiglijke reactie van haar of zijn eigen vlees in de ontmoeting met de ander en ook voor de respons van de ander. Volgens Mulder stelt Irigaray deze notie in haar latere werk aan de orde, vooral in die teksten waarin zij onderwerpen behandelt zoals ademen, stilte, of de relatie tot de natuur/wereld om ons heen. Zij interpreteert deze teksten van Irigaray als de ontvouwing van een levenskunst die eigen is aan Irigaray's ethiek van het onherleidbare verschil en haar epistemologie van belichaamde subjectiviteit. Deze levenskunst richt zich op intensivering van de fijngevoeligheid van de zintuigen en de verdieping van het bewustzijn van de fijngevoelige respons in de ontmoeting met de ander, die de ethische reflectie op het transcendente van de ander voortbrengt. Anne-Claire Mulder elaborates upon Irigaray's suggestion that the unfolding of the humanity of human beings goes hand in hand with the generation of the divine within and among them. She shows that this humanity - and thus the divinity Irigaray speaks of - is located in the flourishing of human beings in their difference, and in the unfolding of the vitality and sensibility of the living body. She situates Irigaray's suggestion against the backcloth of her ethics of sexual difference, which evolves around the issue of the acknowledgement and respect of the transcendence, the irreducible difference of the other human being as this respect constitutes the necessary precondition of this flourishing. Mulder argues that this respect and acknowledgement of this difference requires that the subject becomes sensitised to the sensible responses of her or his own flesh, to the encounter of the other as well as to the responses of the other. According to Mulder, Irigaray addresses this issue in her later work, especially in those texts that deal with topics as breathing, silence, or the relation with the natural world around us. She interprets these texts as unfolding an art of living appropriate to Irigaray's ethics of irreducible difference and her epistemology of embodied subjectivity. This art of living aims at a heightening of the sensibility of the senses as well as to a deepening of the awareness of the sensible responses to the encounter with the other, in and through which the ethical reflection of the transcendence of the other is engendered. |
