| Summary: | This paper explores the liturgical spirituality of the Camaldolese Benedictines by examining the Camaldolese practice of the Liturgy of the Hours and putting it into conversation with the spiritual writings that ground the Camaldolese community. Special attention is paid to the ways in which the four-fold Camaldolese identity - Christian, post-Vatican II Catholic, Benedictine/monastic, and Camaldolese - is concretized through the community's liturgical praxis. This study employs historical, theological, spiritual, and ritual analyses to reveal the multifaceted reality that is Camaldolese liturgical prayer. In addition to treatment of the liturgical text, attention is paid to the impact of liturgical time, liturgical space, and liturgical gesture on the prayer and spirituality of the community. Particular emphasis is given to the practices of the monks at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California in order to show how the identity and spirituality of the community is manifested in its concrete liturgical praxis. Cet article explore la spiritualité liturgique des bénédictins camaldules en examinant la pratique camaldule de la liturgie des heures et en la mettant en conversation avec les écrits spirituels qui fondent la communauté camaldule. Une attention particulière est accordée à la manière dont la quadruple identité camaldule - chrétienne, catholique post-Vatican II, bénédictine/monastique et camaldule - se concrétise à travers la pratique liturgique de la communauté. Cette étude utilise des analyses historiques, théologiques, spirituelles et rituelles pour révéler la réalité à multiple facettes qu'est la prière liturgique camaldule. En plus du traitement du texte liturgique, l'attention est portée sur l'impact du temps liturgique, de l'espace liturgique et du geste liturgique sur la prière et la spiritualité de la communauté. Un accent particulier est mis sur les pratiques des moines du New Camaldoli Hermitage à Big Sur, en Californie, afin de montrer comment l'identité et la spiritualité de la communauté se manifestent dans sa praxis liturgique concrète. |
