Description
Summary:Peter, according to John 6:69 confesses Jesus as the Holy One of God. The title is the same as that found on the lips of a demonic (Mk 1:24). What is the significance of the title? Why does the fourth evangelist use this title in preference to one of the better known titles for Jesus? The first section of this paper surveys contemporary scholarship and its contribution to the solution of these questions. The second section deals with the Holy One in Mark and Luke. The focus of the third is John.
