Summary: | In recent years two developments in text theory have opened up the possibility of bridging the gap between synchronic semantics and what is usually called 'Traditionsgeschichte'. The so-called 'script' or 'frame' theory developed in artificial intelligence (cf Abelson 1973; Minsky 1980) influenced linguistic models developed to descriptionbe discourse processing (cf the reader by Metzing 1980). It has become clear that the expressions forming the explicit textbase are interpreted against the background of 'frames' or 'scripts'. |
