Summary: | Recently the 'world in front of the text' has been much in focus, concerning the role of the reader in the interpretive process. The role played by the 'third world' in the interpretive process is accounted for in different ways and with distinct emphases by various scholars, yet the importance of reception history for interpreting the New Testament is often neglected. This contribution focuses attention on both the prospects and problems of reception studies for biblical hermeneutics. |
