Summary:There is a tendency among South African New Testament scholars to participate enthusiastically in the methodolomania which have recently emerged in New Testament scholarship worldwide. A number of reasons which are suggested by scholars for the particular South African emphasis on methodology are critically surveyed. Some neglected aspects related to methodology are mentioned.
