Summary: | Historical reconstruction of the event of Jesus' burial needs to take into account the archaeological, socio-political and literary evidence. This essay presents and evaluates J. D. Crossan's interpretation of the evidence and his conclusions regarding a non-burial for Jesus. The counter-argument of B. R. McCane is outlined next. With McCane, this essay concludes that a case can be made for an actual burial of Jesus, be it a dishonourable one. |
