Description
Summary:This sentence, and the message conveyed by it, are restricted by the media used to communicate it. This is one of the aspects addressed by "media criticism", the main theme of Bobby Loubser's book. The work itself is the culmination of years of study on this subject, sparked by Loubser's encounter with different cultures at the University of Zululand. Media criticism, in short, aims at understanding the way in which the medium of a message influences the message itself, as well as the way in which a culture is shaped by the way in which different media are used. Loubser argues that this has serious implications for our understanding of the biblical texts.
