Description
Summary:St. Anselm went to a good deal of trouble to ensure that his treatises were copied carefully and exactly and in full. Nevertheless, in time he became a florilegium author. More significant for the evidence they provide of the way in which his work was studied in the century after his death are a number of abbreviations which were made during the twelfth and thirteenth century. Some examples are discussed and edited here.
