This study addresses the expectations addressed to Jesus’ disciples with respect to suffering based on Mk 10,35-45. As a first step, I discuss the context, reading the parallels, and emphasizing the similarities and differences. Second I propose a short historical-critical analysis, formulating some hypotheses about the development of the text. Third, based on the interpretation of the text, I attempt to disclose the theological message: true communion with Jesus demands that the disciples are prepared to die with him. This message is afterwars integrated in New Testament biblical theology. | ||
