Description
Summary:The theme of the suffering is present all across the Bible as a problematic element. Jesus himself does not solve its „why”, but with the example of his life, with his teaching, he shows how one should relate to suffering and integrate it in one’s lifes. This study addresses the expectations addressed to Jesus’ disciples with respect to suffering based on Mk 10,35-45. As a first step, I discuss the context, reading the parallels, and emphasizing the similarities and differences. Second I propose a short historical-critical analysis, formulating some hypotheses about the development of the text. Third, based on the interpretation of the text, I attempt to disclose the theological message: true communion with Jesus demands that the disciples are prepared to die with him. This message is afterwars integrated in New Testament biblical theology.
