The partial failure of the doctrine of collegiality could be explained by insufficient in-depth study of the correlation between the college of Bishops, communion of Churches and Primacy in a context where a theology of regional churches was merely outlined. Whence a number of theological field projects of pastoral, ecumenical and institutional import that might be considered at the upcoming Roman Synod on Bishops. RésuméEssai de bilan du traitement théologique et canonique de l’épiscopat à Vatican II et surtout depuis. Le relatif insuccès de la doctrine de la collégialité s’expliquerait par une corrélation insuffisamment explorée entre collège des évêques, communion des Églises et primat, dans un cadre où la théologie des Églises régionales n’avait été qu’esquissée. Ce diagnostic désigne autant de chantiers théologiques qui ont des implications tant pastorales qu’œcuméniques et institutionnelles, qui pourraient retenir l’attention du prochain synode romain sur l’épiscopat. |
