Its quest is threefold: for one's identity, for a literary form allowing for reflection on existence, and for the spiritual. Three authors serve as good illustrations of these three possibilities: Benjamin Constant, Maine de Biran, and Joseph Joubert - even though there may be some overlap of these three quests among the three authors. Le journal « intime » naît à la fin du xviii e siècle, sous l’influence des Confessions de Rousseau, dans une triple ligne de recherche d’identité, d’écriture permettant une réflexion philosophique sur l’existence, de quête spirituelle. Trois auteurs illustrent bien ces trois possibilités : Benjamin Constant, Maine de Biran et Joseph Joubert, mais elles se mêlent aussi chez chacun d’entre eux. |
