| Summary: | In breaking with the near unanimity of Western Philosophy which, from Plato to Marx, had conceived of power in terms of "power over," of a domination of humans over humans, H. A. proposes instead to think of power as an expression of a group’s aptitude to act in a pluralistic environment and in concert, thus as power in common. The A. takes care to distinguish power as an end in itself, from violence of an instrumental order which is never legitimate, and from Authority which presupposes unconditional recognition and respect, wondering in the end if all power can do without the durability factor that is the authority of a foundation RésuméRompant avec la quasi-unanimité de la philosophie occidentale, de Platon à Marx, laquelle a conçu le pouvoir en termes de pouvoir-sur, de domination de l’homme sur l’homme, H. A. propose de le penser autrement, comme expression de l’aptitude d’un groupe à agir en condition de pluralité de façon concertée, et donc comme pouvoir-en-commun. L’A. différencie soigneusement le pouvoir, qui trouve en lui-même sa propre fin, d’avec la violence, d’ordre instrumental, qui n’est jamais légitime, et d’avec l’autorité, qui présuppose la reconnaissance inconditionnelle et le respect. Elle se demande finalement si tout pouvoir peut se passer du facteur de durabilité qu’est l’autorité d’une fondation. |
