| Summary: | Le copernicianisme de Giordano Bruno est caractérisé par l'homogénéité et par l'infinité de l'univers matériel Cet article présente les arguments de Bruno en faveur de la nécessité d'un univers infini actuel : capacité de l'intellect humain de dépasser toutes les limites; relativité et caractère apparent des déterminations spatiales; homogénéité de l'espace; nécessité d'un effet infini pour l'infinie puissance divine, à laquelle la distinction scolastique entre potentia absoluta et potentia ordinata est inapplicable. Nous examinons aussi comment, dans l'univers infini, l'homogénéité peut seulement s'exprimer dans l'infinité des sytèmes, dont chacun est composé d'une étoile-soleil entourée de planètesterres formant un organisme vivant en équilibre stable par l'échange de substance entre les contraires. Giordano Bruno's copernicianism is characterized by the homogeneity and infiniteness of the material universe. This article presents Bruno's arguments in favour of the necessity of an infinite universe : the fact of the human intellect's capacity to surpass any limit; the relativity and observability of spatial determinations; the homogeneity of space; the necessity of there being an infinite effect to infinite divine power to which the scholastic distinction between potentia absoluta and potentia ordinata cannot apply. We also examine how homogeneity, in infinite space, can express itself only in the infinity of systems each of which is composed of a sun-star surrounded by earth-planets, forming a living organism whose equilibrium is maintained by the exchange of substances between contraries. |
