Après avoir souligné les enjeux du livre recensé dans l'horizon de la question contemporaine concernant l'être de l'homme posée par Heidegger dans L'Être et le Temps, l'A. examine en détail la démarche suivie par É.-H. W., qui retrace d'abord une sorte d'histoire du dualisme de l'âme et du corps dans la tradition patristique, puis dégage et argumente la grande affaire de l'anthropologie médiévale : le choc entre le platonisme et l'aristotélisme, en eux-mêmes et dans leur version chrétienne. L'A. souligne en particulier que l'intuition centrale de l'anthropologie de Thomas d'Aquin est, dans la perspective eschatologique de la béatitude éternelle, la nécessité d'une addition de lumen gloriae qu'Ê.-H. W. appelle « ajout dynamisant issu de l'objet d'opération » ; elle constitue le ressort même de ce que l'on peut appeler une conception eschatologique de la personne. A long critical presentation of É.-H. Weber's book, La personne humaine au xin e siècle, Paris, Vrin (coll. "La Bibliothèque thomiste", XLVI), 1991. Libera begins by showing what is at stake in this book, presented here in the context of the contemporary question concerning the being of man as proposed by Heidegger in Being and Time. He then closely studies the approach used by E.-H. Wèber who firstly retraces a kind of history of the dualism of mind and body in the patristic tradition, and secondly draws into the open and discusses the vast crisis of medieval anthropology : the shock between Platonism and Aristotelianism, within themselves and in their Christian version. The writer then underlines in particular that the main intuition in the anthropology of Thomas Aquinas is, within the eschatological perspective of eternal beatitude, the necessary addition of the lumen gloriae which É.-H. Wéber calls "an activating addition proceeding from the operational object"; it constitutes the mainspring of what one can call an eschatological conception of the human person. |
