La création ex nihilo est une doctrine juive et chrétienne qui présente l'origine des êtres et du monde en la démarquant des conceptions mythiques et philosophiques. La réflexion sur les Écritures conduit les chrétiens au IIe s. à distinguer la création ex nihilo, origine des êtres en Dieu, de la démiurgie, production et organisation des êtres par Dieu. Cette réflexion insiste sur la fonction créatrice du Verbe et de la Sagesse et a pour conséquence de mettre en évidence les trois qui interviennent dans la création : le Père, son Verbe et sa Sagesse. Putting the theology of this doctrine into its historical context, it is both Jewish and Christian and deals with the origin of beings, and of the world, in terms of mythical and philosophical concepts. In the 2nd century, reflections on the holy scriptures led Christians to distinguish creation ex nihilo, the divine origin of beings, from Plato's demiurge which relates to the reproduction and organisation of beings by God. Those reflections insisted on the creative function of the Word and of divine Wisdom, thus incidentally bringing into prominence the three who perform the creation: the Father, His word, and His wisdom. |
