Mais il y a une pratique française de la philosophie, qui est une production historique, coïncidant avec la mise en place d'institutions spécifiques dans le cadre de l'État-nation. De ce point de vue, l'intégration de la philosophie à l'appareil de l'enseignement public est essentielle, cet enseignement qui, depuis près de deux siècles, détermine pour une part ses formes d'expression et de communication, ainsi que ses contenus spéculatifs, thématiques, argumentatifs et notionnels. There is no such thing as "French philosophy", which if it existed would have to be the fixed, timeless expression of a "frame of mind" donated ready-made in the nature of things. But there is a French way of putting philosophy into practice, rooted in history and coinciding with the establishment of other specific institutions within the framework of the nation-state. With this in mind, the introduction of philosophy as an integral part of the machinery of public education is essential, for it is that education which, for nearly two centuries past, has dictated not only the forms of expression and communication of philosophy, but also its speculative, thematic, argumentative and notional content. |
