These notes on the text of the TIE concern: (1) the meaning of the adjective "vaga" into "experientia vaga", which (with help from Pieter Balling's translation of the PPC/CM) is identified as "errant"; (2) the applicability of the noun "paradoxa" to all the propositions of Spinozian natural science and the function of the term in literature about Spinoza; and (3) the synonymy of "fictio" and "versieringe", which (with help from the Short Treatise and the work by Adrien Koerbagh) throws some light on Spinoza's theory of knowledge. |
