Dugmore a caractérisé la théologie eucharistique anglicane du seizième siècle. L'auteur procède à une étude du vocabulaire utilisé par Hooker: il cherche à comprendre comment les termes utilisés — réel, corporel, naturel, spirituel, mystique, etc. — s'associent ou s'opposent, en soulignant quelles expressions Hooker exclut, et lesquelles il affectionne. Il caractérise ensuite la théologie eucharistique de Hooker par cinq concepts fondamentaux : instrumentante, participation réelle et mystique, présence réelle et personnelle, transmutation, sanctification. Il considère enfin la place tenue par la notion de sacrifice. The analysis of Hooker's eucharistie theology is directed by the concept of «symbolic realism», by which C. W. Dugmore has characterized the anglican eucharistie theology of the sixteenth century. Proceding to a study of the vocabulary used by Hooker, the author attempts to understand how the terms used — real, corporal, natural, spiritual, mystical, etc. — are related to each other by association or opposition, stressing which expressions Hooker excludes and which he likes. Then he characterizes Hooker's eucharistie theology by five fundamental concepts: instrumentality, real and mystical participation, real and personal presence, transmutation, sanctification. He finally considers the place held by the notion of sacrifice. |
