Summary: | The mutual influence of sociology and Church is inspected in contemporary history. Various kinds of sociological studies are indicated, but the “intellectual perspective” of sociology is studied as it affects and is affected by the Church, especially as sociologists seek to clarify emergent forms of Christian attitudes and behavior. Three issues warrant attention in the analysis of new, historical forms within the Church: an emerging ecumenical attitude, a current concern about the personal, a growing appreciation of the feminine virtues. |
