| Summary: | Around the middle of the thirteenth century, the Oxford Master Adam of Buckfield commented on the translatio vetus of Aristotle’s De longitudine et brevitate vitae. The present article offers a critical edition of, along with an introduction to, an anonymously transmitted commentary on this medieval translation that is convincingly attributed to Buckfield by modern scholarship. In a brief analysis of the edited text, attention is paid to the stylistic features of the commentary and to its relationship not only with the translatio vetus but also with Averroes’s Compendium and a thirteenth-century anonymous compendium preserved in MS Oxford, Bodleian Library, Tanner 116.\n4207 \n4207 |
