Towards this end, a religious survey was developed and administered to 670 undergraduate students at a large midwestern university. Three groups of students varying in religious orientation were identified through a cluster analysis: highly involved, moderately involved, and unchurched. The three groups manifested quite different religious needs. Highly involved students voiced needs which centered around traditional religious expression and evangelism. The unchurched needs focused on personal and social religious growth. Moderately involved students reported a broader set of needs, including those of both traditional religious and personal/social growth. The practical and theoretical implications of these results are considered.
