Summary: | This study attempts to respecify the basic sociological proposition positively relating rank-in-group and outgroup involvement. Counter to the usual expectation found among most groups studied, those of high group rank in "precarious" organizations are hypothesized to have a low degree of outgroup involvement (isolation). Supporting data have been acquired from a "precarious" religious organization in a university setting. Not only were those of high group rank found to be more isolated at the informal level but also at the formal level as well. |
