| Summary: | A survey of 94 clergymen was conducted in a southwestern metropolitan area in order to investigate the relationship between demographic variables, socio-cultural attitudes, and attitude toward induced abortion. Analysis of the data indicates that the demographic variables were only slightly related to the attitudes toward induced abortion. However, strong relationships were found to exist between the socio-cultural attitudinal variables and, in particular, the clergymen's attitudes toward women and induced abortion. It is concluded that a prejudice or bias toward women or sex could be expressed in a negative attitude which, in turn, could affect the clergy's attitude toward induced abortion. |
