Description
Summary:Research into the relationships of delinquency, crime, and religion has been generally historical and speculative. This review article examines the topic in terms of religion, law, and crime; religious research; problems of measurement; religious research in juvenile delinquency; religious research and adult criminality; the clergy and delinquency-crime; religious research in corrections; and prevention and religious research. It concludes that the subject has generally been neglected by empirical researchers and that more work in the area will have to be completed before the influence of the religious variable in delinquency-crime will be understood.
