| Summary: | Recent scholarship almost unanimously views the Temple Scroll as a compilation of several distinct sources: the final redactor found the Temple blueprint and the comprehensive reworking of biblical law that the Scroll contains already completed in his source texts. This source-critical hypothesis, however, fails to do justice to the coherent exegetical goals and methodology that extend throughout the Scroll. Stylistic differences and varying forms of biblical reuse are better explained as a function of the different biblical text(s) underlying the Temple Scroll's formulation. The redactor most likely does draw on earlier extrabiblical texts, but has reworked parts of them for use in his own independent work, rather than simply adopting them with minimal change as literary sources. La recherche qumrânienne actuelle considère presque unanimement le Rouleau du Temple comme la compilation de diverses sources; le rédacteur final aurait trouvé dans ces sources les plans du Temple et la ré-élaboration des lois bibliques que le rouleau contient. Mais cette hypothèse ne fait pas justice à la finalité et aux méthodes exégétiques de l'auteur. Les différences stylistiques et les changements dans le réemploi des textes bibliques s'expliquent mieux en fonction des différents textes bibliques employés par l'auteur de Rouleau du Temple. Le rédacteur, probablement, emploie aussi des sources extra-bibliques; mais plutôt que de les avoir adoptées avec des changements minimes, le rédacteur a retravaillé quelques parties de ces textes extra-bibliques afin de les insérer dans sa propre composition. |
