| Summary: | Modern scholars are almost unanimous in their acceptance of the historicomythological interpretation of Revelation 12, with the result that it has effectively replaced the mariological and spiritual interpretations. The following work critically re-examines these three forms of interpretation with the aim of developing a new approach based on insights from mystical theology. The resulting 'mystical' interpretation of Revelation 12 identifies the vision of the signs in heaven and the birth of the male child with a type of mystical experience, and links this to the special mission of the 144,000 males described elsewhere in the text. This approach not only comprehensively explains the details of the text within its eschatological context, but also helps to resolve some outstanding issues concerning the 144,000. Les chercheurs contemporains sont presque tous unanimes dans l'interprétation historico-mythologique d'Apocalypse 12, avec comme résultat d'avoir oblitéré l'interprétation mariologique et spirituelle. Le travail qui suit réexamine ces trois types d'interprétation avec l'idée de développer une nouvelle approche à partir de données de la théologie mystique. L'interprétation « mystique » qui s'en suit identifie la vision des signes dans le ciel et la naissance d'un enfant mâle avec un modèle d'expérience mystique, et relie le tout à la mission des 144.000 hommes, décrite ailleurs dans le texte.
