This note tries to present a comprehensive reading and interpretation of the Hebrew ostracon. The document has preserved an appeal from a worker to an officer against an injust action by a minor official. The worker claims to be innocent and demands satisfaction, because he did everything in time before shabbat. Understood in this way, the ostracon would be an important indication of the shabbat institution before exile. |
