Under a tentative premise that the House of Absalom in Pesher Habbakuk refers to Absalom of Josephus one can interpret the foundation of Qumran community as an outcome of a dispute in the community of Temple scholars, focused on the meaning and dates of a historical cycle on the eve of the Roman conquest. Absalom, oncle et beau-père d'Aristobule II, peut être identifié comme oncle maternel, et du coup, comme un parent de Simon ben Shetah, et un membre éminent du groupe de la communauté savante du temple. Avec l'hypothèse que la Maison d'Absalom dans le Pesher Habaquq renverrait à l'Absalom de Josephe, on peut interpréter la fondation de la communauté de Qumrân comme un des résultats de la querelle dans le groupe des savants du temple, querelle centrée sur l'accomplissement des prophéties à la veille de la conquête romaine. | ||
