| Summary: | Only a handful of scholars, first among them N. H. Tur-Sinai, have noticed rudiments of an alphabetic acrostic in Prov. 24:1-22. Emendation of a single resh to dalet (v. 7), moving a single verse (v. 9), and sensitivity to acrostic features discussed by D. N. Freedman and M. Garsiel enable this article to identify numerous alphabetic and non-alphabetic features of the acrostic in Prov. 24:1-22. They include: thirteen letters in alphabetic sequence; emphasis of those letters by repetition, anticipation, and incorporating the letter's names; twenty two verses; artificial creation of a middle line; a final verse containing the letter peh; an alef, lamed, peh sequence in the first, middle and final lines. The composition also has a chiastic structure. The middle line of the composition (v. 12b) has a textual and iconographie parallel in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the balance of the composition reflecting the weighing of hearts in the beam-balance by Thoth. Seule une poignée de chercheurs, en premier lieu N. H. Tur-Sinai, avaient remarqué les rudiments d'un acrostiche alphabétique en Prov. 24, 1-22. Le changement d'un unique resh en un dalet (v. 7), le déplacement d'un seul verset (v. 9), et une sensibilité aux caractéristiques acrostiches notées par D. N. Freedman et M. Garsiel, permettent à cet article de repérer de nombreux traits alphabétiques et non-alphabétiques dans l'acrostiche de Prov. 24,1-22. Ils incluent : les treize lettres dans la séquence alphabétique; l'insistance sur ces lettres par répétition, anticipation et utilisation du nom des lettres; les vingt-deux versets; la création artificielle d'une ligne médiane; un verset final avec la lettre peh; et enfin la succession d'un aleph, d'un lamed et d'un peh à la première ligne, à celle du milieu et à la dernière. La composition témoigne, par ailleurs, d'une structure en chiasme. La ligne médiane (v. 12b) a un parallèle textuel et iconographique dans le Livre des Morts égyptien, l'équilibre de la composition reflétant la pesée des cæurs sur la balance à fléau de Thoth. |
