| Summary: | This gate was probably on the eastern side of the Temple: the gate giving access to the Temple Mount according to the standard text of Acts 3:11; one of the gates of the inner areas according to the Western text, probably that leading from the outer court into the women's court (known from Josephus as the "Corinthian" and from the Mishnah as the "Nicanor"). The name in Acts, ή 'Ωραία, can mean "the Beautiful" but it may have other meanings, notably in reference to "the hour" and to "light". Cette porte se trouvait probablement du côté oriental du Temple : la porte donnant accès au mont du Temple selon le texte standard de Actes 3,11; une des portes des cours intérieures du Temple selon le texte occidental, probablement celle donnant accès du parvis extérieur à celui des femmes (celle que Josèphe appelle la « Corinthienne », et la Mishna « de Nicanor »). Le nom donné en Actes 3, ή 'Ωραία, peut avoir le sens de « la Belle » mais il peut aussi en avoir d'autres, en référence notamment à « l'heure » et à « la lumière ». |
