The péricope 1 Th 2, 13-16 is authentic and the author disagrees with the interpolation theory. Paul reuses the topos incriminating the infidelity of Israel, in order to condemn Jewish blocking of the apostolic preaching and to declare the eschatological punishment of the culprits. In Rm 9 to 11, under the effect of another state of mind, and under the pressure of circumstances from the community, Paul's polemic leaves room for the theology of Israel's salvation. |
