| Summary: | The star that guides the magi in Matt 2:1-12 is a miraculous star midrashically inspired by the messianic star of Num 24:17. The precise movement of the star has hitherto been left unexplained. It is the thesis of this article that the behavior of the star was suggested to the evangelist by the cloud-fire traditions of the Pentateuch, specifically by Num 9:15-23, esp. 9:17, as transformed by Hellenistic Judaism. L'étoile qui guide les mages (Matt 2, 1-12) est une étoile miraculeuse inspirée de façon midrashique par l'étoile messianique de Nomb 24,17. Le mouvement exact de l'étoile est, jusqu'à présent, resté inexpliqué. L'argument de cet article est que le comportement de l'étoile a été suggéré à l'évangéliste par les traditions sur la nuée et le feu dans le Pentateuque, en l'occurrence par Nomb 9, 15-23, surtout 9, 17, traditions transformées en étoile par le judaïsme hellénistique. |
