Summary: | Margalit's view of the etymology and root semantics of the Ug. terms npyn, ẓu, and md and his interpreting them as referring to an undergarment covering one's private parts receive further support from Akk. lexical and etymological equivalents. This short note presents the pertinent Akkadian evidence and discusses its relevance to the subject. Jewish medieval exegesis is also being brought to bear on the meaning of Ug. md = Heb. mad. |
