Au début, cette étape, contrairement à la première à Jérusalem (II, 1-4) et à la troisième chez les paīens (x, 44-46) n'est marquée par aucune manifestation extraordinaire de l'Esprit. C'est à l'absence d'un tel « baptême dans l'Esprit », accompagné de signes sensibles extraordinaires, que doit faire référence VIII, 16 : « L'Esprit n'était encore tombé (verbe epipiptô employé seulement à propos de la Pentecôte de Jérusalem et de celle des païens) sur aucun d'eux ». Les Samaritains avaient seulement reçu individuellement le don de l'« Esprit tranquille » lié au baptême. Lors de l'imposition des mains par Pierre et Jean, se produit une « Pentecôte » ou manifestation de l'« Esprit fracassant », qui indique que les temps sont venus d'entreprendre la seconde étape de la mission. Acts 8:5-25 describes the inauguration in Samaria of the second stage of the mission entrusted to the apostles in Acts 1:8. Contrary to the first stage in Jerusalem (2:1-4) and to the third one geared to the pagans (10:44-46), the beginning of this second stage is not characterized by any extraordinary manifestation of the Spirit. It must be the absence of such a "baptism in the Spirit", accompanied by extraordinary tangible signs, that is referred to in 8:16: "The Spirit had not yet fallen (the verb epipiptô is used only in reference to the Jerusalem Pentecost and the Pentecost to the pagans) on any of them". The Samaritans had only received individually the gift of the "quiet Spirit" linked with baptism. The laying on of hands performed by Peter and Paul coincides with a "Pentecost" or manifestation of the "shattering Spirit" which indicates that the time has come to move into the second stage of the mission. |
