Cet ouvrage, et d'autres études ont incité ce dernier à modifier sa position sur l'attitude des Esséniens envers le Temple et l'ont conduit à de nouvelles recherches sur la représentation que le Maître de Justice avait de lui-môme et sur l'attente méssianique. P. R. Davies' book The Damascus Covenant strongly underlines the claim of the Essenes to have originated in Babylon, thus confirming Murphy-O'Connor's hypothesis. This and other studies of CD have obliged the latter to modify his position on the Essene attitude towards the Temple, and have stimulated new insights into the self-understanding of the Teacher of Righteousness and the nature of messianic expectation. |
