| Summary: | For years, the historiografhic treatment of the controversial subject of the Cordoba martyrs of the ninth century has suffered a slide towards social pathology that has made it incomprehensible by making its participants merely unstable, suicidal or even criminal individuals. It is necessary to recover the history dimension of the phenomenon by deepening its religious and social causes, especially in the situation of the Christian population under Muslim rule, as well as in the political and cultural context in which it occurred, which is the construction of an Arab and Islamic state by the Umayyad dynasty and the very widespread and diverse resistance that this caused. Desde hace años, el tratamiento historiográfico del polémico tema de los mártires cordobeses del siglo IX ha sufrido un deslizamiento hacia la patología social que lo ha vuelto incomprensible al hacer de sus protagonistas individuos meramente des-equilibrados, suicidas o incluso criminales. Es necesario recuperar la dimensión histórica del fenómeno, ahondando en sus causas religiosas y sociales, especialmente en la situación de la población cristiana bajo dominio musulmán, así como en el contexto político y cultural en que se produjo, que no es otro que el de la construcción de un Estado árabe e islámico por la dinastía Omeya y el de las resistencias muy extendidas y diversas que ello ocasionó. |
