Summary: | The author tries to correct the conception of theology of music written by Oskar Söhngen two decades ago by a central statement of the New Testament: church music, especially the vocal music has been determined too strongly by the kerygmatic function (which is seen as in competition to the proclamation of the word of the Lord and to the sermon). He reminds that music in the congregation of the Faithful people must be of charismatic quality. That is the reason why church music is more independent from the biblical texts. Examples are given of theological and historical testimonies throughout the century of Reformation. |
