Summary: | The devotion to S. Maur martyr (to be distinguished from S. Maur, disciple of S. Benedict) appears in Rheims during the 4th century. A considerable part of his relics was removed from Rheims to the recently founded abbey of Florennes in 1011. The devotion to S. Maur will develop until the 18th century. - In appendix, the letter of Arnoul of Rheims to Balderic of Liege in 1011 and the unpublished text of the Passio Mauri. |
