The present essay intends to reconstruct this complicated history on the basis of patristic citations of the short text (Cyprian, Lucifer, Priscillian, Liber de divinis scripturis) and of the revised texts (Ambrose, Augustine, Julian of Eclanum, Philippus, Gregory the Great). Some manuscripts of the translation of Jerome on the Hebrew (Vulgate) try to recover “pluses” of the Septuagint. Appendices, to appear in 2012/2, will justify or enlighten some details. | ||
